Last year was my final year doing illustration at uni, and I’d gotten it into my head that I just HAD to find a fly agaric for my own illustrative reference arsenal. I kept my eyes open for flecks of scarlet in the woods, but was eluded visit after visit to Stanmer woods. Eventually, I discovered them betwixt the birches, and what a site to behold; I found dozens! It felt like a truly momentous time in my life.

I took one of the uprooted fly agarics home to spore print to eternalise the experience.
